Walks Around Braemar
Walks Around Braemar

The spectacular countryside around Braemar has much to offer walkers of all abilities and interests, from the high mountains beyond, to the very attractive network of low-level paths and tracks in and around the village.

A booklet is available called 'Short Walks & Cycle Routes Around Braemar' for those looking for a short rewarding walk of between 11/2 - 4 hours, five easy to find circular walks of varying length and difficulty are described, all starting and finishing in Braemar - so you won't even need your car! Each colour-coded route has a map and route description, and is graded in terms of difficulty. Times given include the return to the start point. All the routes are marked on the ground with coloured way markers, signs or cairns to help you find your way.

Useful information about walking routes in the area, including downloadable maps, can be obtained by visiting the Cairngorms Outdoor Access Trust's web site at  www.cairngormsoutdooraccess.org.uk

Further information is also available from the  Eastern Cairngorms Visitor Information website at www.visitcairngorms.com .

The Country Code
You are a welcome visitor to Deeside and can help to protect the countryside and minimise your impact in a number of ways. The livelihoods of many people are dependent upon the land management activities of the various estates around Braemar, and in some areas both wild plants and animals can be easily damaged or disturbed.

Please:
o Fasten all gates
o Take your litter home
o Keep dogs under close control
o Park away from gates and tracks
o Guard against all risk of fire
o Be courteous to other users
o Keep to way-marked paths

Numerous other walks start a short distance from the village at the Linn of Dee, Inverey, Linn of Quoich, Glen Callater and the Keiloch. For further information please refer to "Walking in Grampian", "Short Walks and Cycle Routes Around Braemar" and Ordnance Survey "Landranger 43" - all available from the Tourist Information Centre, Braemar. A hill phone system is also in use - please see 'Useful Information'.
